These Intensive Retreats are specially designed to accelerate your healing and are more efficient than weekly sessions.

These 4 to 5 day experiences are customized to fit your individual needs and will support you to find your way back to wholeness.

You will receive individualized focus with two highly trained, integrative mental health clinicians.

WHAT IS THE INVESTMENT?

We can guarantee, that this personalized all-inclusive trauma retreat will transform the way you have been experiencing the challenges that brought you here. You have one short life and your well-being is the vehicle that allows you to experience it to the fullest.

YOU DESERVE THIS, and as your facilitators we hold this truth as we walk with you every step of the way.

We will work together on a package & treatment plan that works for you, including how many days you attend and what services you receive.

  • Two Assessments Meetings:

    • Assessment & Treatment Planning & w/ both therapists.

  • Personalized Treatment Workbook:

    • This will support you to work on your treatment goals before, during, and after our intensive sessions.

  • 4-5 Days at the Retreat:

    • Receive between 3-6 hours a day of the standard EMDR protocol interweaved with other somatic modalities such as IFS & Psychodrama

    • Integrate the work with AcuDetox, Trauma-Informed Yoga & Breath Work, Trauma-Informed Yoga Nidra, Gentle Somatic Yoga, Sound Healing, Massages, Reiki and Time in Nature.

    • Retreats are held at a local hot springs with your own hotel room. Sessions happen in a private building at the retreat center. Meals sourced with local products, including the on-site greenhouse.

    • You will have time to relax, walk around the property and hike if desired. It is recommended you come alone and are free from any work or technological distractions.

  • One Post Meeting:

    • Follow-Up & Integration Work w/ both therapists

EMDR is not just for trauma. It can be used to help with anxiety, depression, relationships & performance enhancement for areas such as athletics and business.

Native American elders and spiritual masters from the surrounding areas consider the retreat location on the west side of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains as one of the most sacred and energetically active places in North America.

What’s included?

Lodging: Enjoy the comfort and serenity of the lodging at Joyful Journey Hot Springs & Spa, featuring Aspen-wood furniture, private baths and outdoor decks with remarkable views. your lodging will provide the perfect reprieve for introspection and integration within the comfort and safety of a quiet resort setting.

Locally sourced meals: You will be provided three nourishing and locally sourced meals each day, including snacks in-between. The on-grounds greenhouse will be a primary source of your nourishment and can be visited for a quiet reprieve at any point during your stay. Dietary restrictions will be accommodated.

Mineral Hot Springs: Walking distance from your room, the hot springs will be available to you throughout your entire stay. The mineral content of Joyful Journey’s therapeutic artesian waters has been known to increase metabolism, accelerate healing, soothe muscles, improve blood circulation, detoxify the body’s lymphatic system as well as fight effects of fatigue, insomnia, arthritis and a depressed immune system. We have intentionally chosen these waters as they are medicine and have proven to be an integral part of your healing process. They a great way to find rejuvenation in between trauma treatments and are part of the integration process.

Daily Holistic Treatments: Through the pre-session assessment process, we will identify appropriate practitioners (outside of your two main primary therapists) whose purpose is to assist with your integration and propel your healing. Examples of holistic services include, but are not limited to: trauma-informed massage therapy, foot-reflexology, cranial sacral therapy, acupressure, warm basalt stones, acupuncture and reiki. These practitioners are carefully chosen based upon their proven ability to provide trauma-informed care. 

Two Trauma-Informed Mental Health Professionals: Having two mental health professionals allows you to rest into the knowing that you are held and supported throughout your entire intensive. We have worked professionally together for 10+ years, and have an even deeper friendship as our foundation. We work collaboratively to interweave various therapeutic modalities into your treatment with the sole purpose of your health and well-being as our guide.

Nature Excursions: Depending on your length of stay (and if deemed appropriate for your unique needs), you may have the opportunity to interweave the powerful medicine of nature into your treatment experience. Former retreat attendees have been guided by Laurel and Jess into the Sangre de Cristo mountain range to experience nature resourcing, forest bathing, mindful hiking, nature meditations, visits to the Great Stupa or the Crestone Ziggurat for transformative embodiment and deep processing.

yOUR rESPONSIBILITY

We simply need you to get here. You will be responsible for your travel to reach the retreat center, including airfare if needed.

Once you get here, we take care of the rest. Literally.

There is a local airport that is accessible via Denver, through Denver Air. You may also drive from Denver, Colorado Springs or Albuquerque, NM, where you will observe breathtaking landscapes as you drive through the Rocky Mountains to reach the northernmost part of the San Luis Valley. For former attendees, this drive has become symbolic of the inward journey that this personalized retreat truly is.

Each city named ranges from 2.5hr to 4hrs to reach the retreat center.

Your investment

For lodging + food + EMDR + bodywork + integrative practices & hot springs each day, the investment for this once in a lifetime experience will range from $3,000 to $4,000/day.

Meet Your tHERAPISTs

 

Jessica is an LPC, EMDR Therapist, AcuDetox Specialist, Meditation & Yoga Teacher and Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapist in-training. She has received over 1,000 hours of continued education in Yoga, Somatic Practices and Facilitator trainings. She is currently studying with Inner Peace Yoga Therapy and is receiving her 800 hour professional Yoga Therapy certification.

Jessica will be assisted by her friend and colleague Laurel Carter, who is also a Therapist, AcuDetox Specialist, Yoga Teacher and Sound Healer. Together, they have run multiple public & private retreats that integrate mental health & yoga.


Laurel Carter is a psychotherapist and owner of Two Sandhills Healing; a private practice that facilitates trauma-informed mental health retreats, group and individual psychotherapy, and yoga + meditation workshops using somatic and action-oriented therapies. Laurel approaches her work through an integrated and holistic health model. Her desire is to cultivate a connection to, and a remembrance of, each person’s true nature as perfect, complete, and whole just as they are.
